I have a passion for languages and cultures, and have worked as a full-time translator and interpreter for the last 10 years. My diverse background enabled me to produce outstanding translations in various subjects such as medical researches on hemophilia, mining, food labels, specializing in contracts and documents, and political science. I have worked and lived in the international scene most of my life, in Europe, and presently in the US, I was born in Brazil; it allowed me to develop a proven ability to interact in cross-cultural environments, with excellent understanding of protocol and etiquette, and mainly of the culture applied to the language.

I have been a Dutch translator for over two years. I am originally from Belgium but now live in the US. I am a native speaker of Dutch. I hold a Master\\'s Degree in Translation Studies (Dutch-English-Spanish) The main thing I like about translating is the challenge to produce a clear translation that sounds natural to the target audience. I mainly have experience with the translation of legal and marketing-related texts but I am certainly willing to translate different genres.

I am an attorney translator with over two years of experience translating legal documents between English and Spanish. I am a member of the State Bar of California and of the Madrid (Spain) bar association. I am currently inactive in both jurisdictions, but am eligible to become active. I specialize in the translation of legal documents. My knowledge of English and Spanish legal terminology and of civil law and common law systems allows me to consult legal resources (such as court decisions, statutes and regulations) in both languages to find the correct translation for even the most difficult legal terms. My past experience includes the translation of legal documents related to different areas of the law, including intellectual property, corporations and contract law. I recently purchased Trados Studio 2009 Starter, although I am still learning how to use it.

I am a Spanish to English translator specializing in education with 16 years of study in the language. My native language is English. I have worked as a translator since January of 2013. The majority of my translations have been educational materials, including IEPs and special education evaluation reports. My translations have also included affidavits of domestic abuse victims, a cookbook for homeless individuals in shelters, and an iPad application about gastrointestinal stromal tumors. In addition, I worked for a year as a community interpreter with a focus on school settings, for such purposes as IEP meetings and student cognitive evaluations. I have experience with language editing as well, having assisted scholar Mary Berg in editing a recent edition of the nineteenth-century novel Aves sin nido. Regarding my language work in other areas, from 2011 to 2015 I tutored Spanish to students of various ages and levels. I worked previously as a bilingual paraprofessional at Ellis Elementary School, helping to explain academic concepts in Spanish to my native-speaking third grade students. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish. As the culmination of my collegiate experience, I wrote a 75-page senior thesis in Spanish about the fatalistic gender representations in Vargas Llosa’s Los cachorros and La ciudad y los perros. I completed a community interpreting certificate program in June 2014 and a medical interpreting certificate program in February 2015 with Language Connections. I received a perfect score on both final exams. As a result of my performance in the latter program, I was chosen for a 40-hour medical interpreting internship at Brigham and Women's Hospital, which I completed in July 2015. Finally, I have extensive experience traveling in the Spanish-speaking world. During my junior year of college, I lived in Lima, Peru for a year. There, I studied at a local university and volunteered with Centro de Promoción y Defensa de los Derechos Sexuales y Reproductivos, a nonprofit working to protect sexual and reproductive rights and to advocate for the Peruvian LGBT community. I returned to Peru in 2014 and, more recently, in July 2016. In 2012 I spent a month backpacking on my own through Panama and Costa Rica, and I have visited Chile, Ecuador, and Spain as well.
