As a six-year medical doctor (OBGYN) from Saigon, Vietnam, immigrant to the US, and California resident for nine years, I have profoundly sensed the importance of acculturation in American multicultural life. I have voluntarily and consciously treasured and preserved my bi-cultural background because I realize how remarkable different minority cultures (e.g. Vietnamese-American) have contributed to enrich this multicultural wealth. Over six years working in different American medical facilities as an interpreter and in other positions, I have accumulated valuable experiences and nurtured the idea of helping poor Vietnamese-American LEPs to access health care more efficiently and so be able to improve their quality of life. I found freelance medical interpreter very attractive since its unique characteristics are challenging to OTP interpreters bringing many benefits to clients, LEPs at the same time it gives me a wide range and flexibility for the business.
I am a certified professional medical interpreter, working as an independent contractor and freelancer. On a higher level, I am now ECFMG certified and eligible to enter MD residency training. Besides my large and resourceful medical terminology vocabulary, natural sciences (Biology, chemistry, mathematics, social sciences, biochemistry, genetics, etc.) continuing medical self-education, and substance as a strong critical thinker and a motivated medical professional, I have profound medical knowledge. My interpretation service has definitely achieved a superlative quality of accuracy, transparency, fluency, professionalism, politeness in respect to the natural course of communication and the compliance of HIPPA.
