Professional translator and interpreter since 1994. Passed the US State Department Korean translator test. Have been providing Korean into English translations for US Federal agencies. Author or co-author of over 10 technical articles in English language journals. Ten years of industrial experience in chemical, nuclear, and aerospace corporations and institutes in US. I am a native Korean and have translated English into Korean in a very diverse areas including software localization, instruction manuals, patents, military proposal, surveys and questionnaires, press releases, marketing documents, etc. I passed the translation test given by the US State Department. I have translated thousands of pages of technical, financial, legal, pharmaceutical and medical documents and hundreds of technical patents into English over ten years. Specific technical fields include chemical, electrical, semiconductor, mechanical, and nuclear engineering and chemistry, microbiology, medicine, etc. I have also been translating Korean technical journals into English for US government agencies for over three years. I have been a translator/editor of large patent and other legal cases, and a substantial portion of my works involves Korean into English translation.

My fluency in the pair of languages I work with (Korean and English) are equally native-proficient; having been born and schooled in Korea until high school but English was spoken in my home and I attended college in the U.S., and subsequently received a legal translation and interpretation degree. My personal and educational background coupled with my extensive interpreting and translation experience make me stand out as a Korean language professional.

Having immigrated to the United States at an early age, I specialize in translating from Korean to English. Having served as a Sr. Localization Specialist at a major online gaming company, I know what it takes to truly make a translated text sound native.

As a freelance Korean-English interpreter/translator who lives in LA area, I have 15 years of experience as both simultaneous/consecutive interpreter and translator. I was trained in two most prestigious graduate schools of translation and interpretation in Seoul, Korea. From one of the schools, I received M.A. in interpretation in 2004 and was certified as a conference interpreter in 2006. I also have taught at two graduate schools of interpretation as lecturer. Having moved to LA from Seoul Korea in 2009, I am currently in the process of getting certified as a CA court interpreter (I passed written portion of the test and plan on taking oral exam as soon as the exam becomes available) and will take State Department interpreter test as well as ATA certification test in April.

I have an MA in Translation and Localization Management. I am specialized in IT and Finance, and also available for interpretation. I am familiar with many computer assisted translation tools such as Wordfast, Trados and WorldServer.

English and Korean are both native languages to me, and I have gained some experience as a translator contractor to a few companies. I have excellent linguistic abilities and understanding of grammar and structure of both languages, and I have worked on projects in the academic fields, business, marketing, tourism, Internet, and technology. I have resided both in Korea and in the United States for many years, and I received a B.A. in English and Spanish literature from Colgate University in New York.

I have extensive experience in simultaneous interpreting for conferences in the financial, business, health, computer, media field, etc. I am a Certified Court Interpreter Korean / English for the State of California and have interpreted for depositions, trials, administrative hearings, speeches and medical appointments. I have interpreted in the field of education, patent, telecommunications, agriculture, and business. I translated the script, The Rose of Sharon, a film by Elliot Hong. I have translated legal, engineering, marketing, and technical documents. I am trained in Voice Over and have done various Voice Over work,Voice Over directing, Voice Over editing and dialect coach in Korean. I have graduated from the UCLA Certificate Program in Legal Interpretation and Translation Korean / English. I am a graduate of Ewha Woman's University in Seoul, Korea and I studied English Literature at Claremont Graduate School. I have a secondary teaching credential in Korean and English.

Currently I am certified as a court interpreter in California. I have lots of experience in teaching, interpreting and translating using English, German, French, Korean(native), Greek, Hebrew and Aramaic. I have educational backgrounds of social science, religion, and computer science,and languages. I am responsible and precise.
