Video Remote Interpretation

Face-to-face interpretation, without the travel

When phone interpretation isn't enough and on-site isn't practical, video remote interpretation gives you the best of both — visual cues, facial expressions, and professional interpretation, all over secure video.

200+ languages · Certified interpreters · Zoom, Teams, Webex & more · Since 1995

Why VRI

Why choose video remote interpretation?

VRI bridges the gap between phone interpretation and on-site — you get visual communication without the logistics.

Visual Communication

See the interpreter on screen — facial expressions, gestures, and visual cues make complex conversations clearer and more natural than phone-only interpretation.

Scheduled & Same-Day

Book a certified video interpreter for a specific date and time, or request same-day availability. We match you with interpreters who know your industry.

Cost-Effective

No travel costs, no mileage, no waiting for an interpreter to arrive. VRI gives you face-to-face quality at a fraction of on-site rates.

Nationwide Coverage

Our interpreter network spans all 50 states and 200+ languages. No matter where you are — or what language you need — we connect you via secure video.

How It Works

From request to live session

1
Place Your Order

Tell us the language, date, time, and subject matter. Our dispatcher technology matches you with a certified interpreter who knows your field — legal, medical, business, or education.

2
Receive Confirmation

You get the interpreter's qualifications, the session link, and connection instructions. For specialized sessions, we share prep materials with the interpreter in advance.

3
Connect via Video

At the scheduled time, join via our secure platform or your preferred video tool (Zoom, Teams, Webex, Google Meet). The interpreter joins the call — no software to install.

4
Interpret & Document

Your interpreter handles the full session. For recurring clients, we assign the same interpreter for continuity. After the session, receive usage documentation for your records.

Industry Solutions

VRI for every industry

Our interpreters aren't generalists — they're matched to your field so they know the terminology before the session starts.

Healthcare & Medical

Patient consultations, telehealth visits, informed consent, surgical briefings, and mental health sessions. The video feed lets interpreters read body language and assist with visual materials — charts, consent forms, discharge papers.

Legal & Courts

Remote depositions, immigration interviews, attorney-client meetings, and virtual hearings. VRI keeps everyone visible on camera, which courts increasingly accept and prefer for interpreter-assisted proceedings.

Education

Parent-teacher conferences, IEP meetings, enrollment interviews, and school counselor sessions — all over video. VRI removes the scheduling barrier that makes parents skip important meetings.

Business & Corporate

International partner calls, multilingual town halls, HR onboarding, and contract discussions. VRI drops into your existing video platform — Zoom, Teams, Webex — with the interpreter joining as a participant.

Government & Public Sector

Benefits interviews, caseworker meetings, community outreach, and regulatory hearings. Government agencies use our VRI when an in-person interpreter isn't available or the appointment is too short to justify travel.

Insurance & Financial

Claims reviews, policy explanations, fraud interviews, and account disputes. Video adds a layer of trust and clarity that phone interpretation can't match — especially for high-stakes financial conversations.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How is VRI different from on-site interpretation?

VRI delivers the same face-to-face quality via secure video, but without travel time or costs. The interpreter sees everyone on camera, reads body language, and handles visual materials. It's ideal when an in-person interpreter isn't available, or when the session is too short to justify travel.

What equipment do I need?

A device with a camera, microphone, and internet connection — laptop, tablet, or smartphone. For medical or legal settings, a dedicated tablet on a rolling stand works well. No special software required — we support all major video platforms.

How far in advance should I book a VRI session?

For common languages (Spanish, Mandarin, Arabic, etc.), 24–48 hours is usually enough. For rare languages or highly specialized interpreters, 3–5 days is safer. We also handle same-day requests when our schedule allows.

Can I use VRI for legal proceedings?

Yes. Many courts now accept VRI for hearings, depositions, and attorney-client meetings. Our legal interpreters hold court certification and understand courtroom protocol. We provide session recordings when authorized.

Is my VRI session secure?

All sessions run on encrypted connections. We support your platform's native security features — Zoom E2EE, Teams encryption, Webex end-to-end. For high-sensitivity sessions, we can use our own secure portal.

Can I request the same interpreter for recurring sessions?

Absolutely. Continuity improves interpretation quality — the interpreter already knows your context, terminology, and preferences. We prioritize recurring-client matching for all scheduled VRI work.
