Azerbaijani Interpreters in Louisiana

After coming to U.S.A. and doing a number of things, I started working as a per diem court interpreter, (July 1992), in the Nassau County first district court in Hempstead, Long Island. In time, the occupation that I started as a part time job improved through good service and referrals and became a business. Started working with the Federal Courts in 1994, translated a lot of documents, transcribed and then translated a lot of tapes when I first started. (Recently they turned to CD's.) Today, I am working in all New York and New Jersey State and Federal courts as a per diem interpreter. Also doing written translations, editing, tape transcriptions, simultaneous seminar and deposition interpreting, medical interpreting and medical translations. I also work as an escort interpreter. I work for private law offices, translation agencies and Government agencies as a freelance independent contractor.

By profession, I am a Certified Public Accountant, but I also work part time with several agencies by providing them with translation services. For instance, my assignment with a language assessment company includes designing reading and listening to tests in Azerbaijani (or Azeri) for examinees. I also work on the Teaching of Foreign Languages by conducting oral proficiency tests in Azeri. I hold ILR language tester certification. In addition, I also work with the Law Clinics by translating various documents from Azeri to English and from English to Azeri. My strong writing and oral proficiency of Azeri have also attracted the attention of Azeri media and foreign media airing its programs in Azeri. I occasionally give interviews to various radio and TV stations as well as newspapers in Azeri and also write short articles for various Internet forums and also local newspapers based in Azerbaijan. I am also a very active community leader who is frequently involved in various cultural events and political campaigns. I am a regional vice president for the Azerbaijani Society of America by representing this organization in Washington DC area. I work for the Federal government and I am a U.S. citizen. In the past, I have held secret security clearance, but I am not sure if it is still active.

Translation and Language testing.

I have a one year work experience in consecutive, simultaneous interpretation and translation in a US firm. Besides, I am an auditor, currently taking CPA exams to become qualified accountant/auditor.

I am a DoS-certified Russian interpreter. By Profession I am a lawyer, however I have been providing Translator services in the Energy/Environment, Legal, Social Sciences and Telecommunications fields for more than 10 years.
