After coming to U.S.A. and doing a number of things, I started working as a per diem court interpreter, (July 1992), in the Nassau County first district court in Hempstead, Long Island.
In time, the occupation that I started as a part time job improved through good service and referrals and became a business. Started working with the Federal Courts in 1994, translated a lot of documents, transcribed and then translated a lot of tapes when I first started. (Recently they turned to CD's.) Today, I am working in all New York and New Jersey State and Federal courts as a per diem interpreter. I graduated from Istanbul University Translation and Interpretation Department in English in 2005. I have worked for many Turkey based translation companies and performed translations on legal, technical and advertising related projects.
By profession, I am a Certified Public Accountant, but I also work part time with several agencies by providing them with translation services. I am also a very active community leader who is frequently involved in various cultural events and political campaigns. I am a regional vice president for the Azerbaijani Society of America by representing this organization in Washington DC area. I work for the Federal government and I am a U.S. citizen. In the past, I have held secret security clearance, but I am not sure if it is still active.
