I am a Haitian Creole interpreter and translator. I started in this field about three years ago as a way to supplement my income. It turned out that I love helping people and I am very good at inpterpreting and translating, so I decided to commit to it full time. I currently work with different agencies, interpreting over the phone or translating documents via emails. Prior to becoming a freelancer, I worked as a manager for a retail drugstore for 6 years. I attended Saint Elizabeth College where I received a B.S. in Business Management and a minor in Communication.

Essentially, I see myself as someone who is continually learning and this is from where I draw my strength as a linguist. I was born in a French and Haitian Creole speaking country. While growing up and at school, I learned French; at home however, my family had spoken both French and Creole. Later, at the age of nine, I began to learn the English language. Most often, I tend to be either a self-taught learner; for example, I learned to read and write a language by reading and studying on my own, since there had not been any school nearby offering it. Other times, I gain knowledge from instructors. Still yet, other times, I will draw material from my peers or just the world around me. I have always believed that my major strength had been in working at improving my communicative skills, whether it is the written word or the spoken word. As a linguist, I believe that this holds true for most of the languages I had studied. It is not surprising, since much of my schooling had concentrated much more in the area of literature and writing. About five years ago, I earned a certificate in professional French translation, and I have been working to combine this background with a previous major, that of management studies. I have delved into the commercial world, the arena of healthcare, and medical terminology. Furthermore, having had the opportunity to acquire over the phone interpreting skills from professional interpreters on the job, I can comment that the exposure has also helped develop my oral skills within these fields. Presently, in order to fine-tune my writing skills for the professional world, I am now including specialized editing skills to my continuing education and professional development roster. Therefore, in reality, I do not consider my strengths as coming from myself only; more so, I have observed that my strengths are a wealth of interactions and experiences.

I provide translation and consecutive interpretation between English, French, Spanish, and Haitian Creole across on-site, telephone, and video remote settings. My work spans diverse fields including legal, medical, pharmaceutical, financial, energy, environmental, biological, patent, business, and social sciences. With over a decade of experience, I ensure precise communication for complex technical and cultural nuances. I am also very strong in the translation of Educational materials. My background includes specialized training in linguistics, literature, and general medicine, which informs my approach to terminology and accuracy. I deliver reliable language solutions for direct clients and agencies, focusing on clarity and fidelity in every project.

Can read, write, speak and also interpret Haitian creole into English or the other way around. I was born in Haiti, and also my family only speak the language in our home.

I offer over 10 years of experience working in Haiti and speaking Haitian Creole. I have volunteered, performed research, taught and translated for numerous volunteers that would come to Haiti to do work--from digging wells to construction.
