After coming to U.S.A. and doing a number of things, I started working as a per diem court interpreter, (July 1992), in the Nassau County first district court in Hempstead, Long Island.
In time, the occupation that I started as a part time job improved through good service and referrals and became a business. Started working with the Federal Courts in 1994, translated a lot of documents, transcribed and then translated a lot of tapes when I first started. (Recently they turned to CD's.) Today, I am working in all New York and New Jersey State and Federal courts as a per diem interpreter. Also doing written translations, editing, tape transcriptions, simultaneous seminar and deposition interpreting, medical interpreting and medical translations.
I also work as an escort interpreter. I work for private law offices, translation agencies and Government agencies as a freelance independent contractor.
Attend early intervention and CPSE/CSE Program meetings for interpretation to parents where psychologists, special educators, speech pathologists, physical or occupational therapists are at times present with the school superintendent. Provide translation or interpretation of instructions, questions and responses during the evaluation and give correct interpretation of the child's responses. Assist students with translation or interpretation needs during NY State exams and High School Regents exams.
Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Neslihan Torgut and I am a college graduate. I have lived in the United States for the past 18 years therefore I am considered a native speaker. In addition I am perfectly capable of understanding, speaking, reading and writing in Turkish and English.
I have done translations for a company called Cag Ceviri in Turkey. My texts were usually industrial regulations, agreements, websites etc. I also did legal translations (law case verdicts). Although the majority of my documents were from English to Turkish and vice versa, I have done French to Turkish and vice versa as well. I wrote two theses in French in social sciences.

I have a one year work experience in consecutive, simultaneous interpretation and translation in a US firm. Besides, I am an auditor, currently taking CPA exams to become qualified accountant/auditor.
I have experience in translations of garduation thesis in chemical, engineering, and psychology. During the time I work for 17th Notary of Ankara I translated notary documents whıch are mostly about law. I also have experience in translations of visa documents because I worked for a consultation company. I am also a freelance subtitle tarnslator of tv series.

I am a Native Turkish Speaker, I have been interpreting for family and friends since the age of nine. I am also a US Army, certified, Linguist. My certification is annually tested.
