Being a Korean translator / interpreter requires language skills and understanding of the Korean culture. I have 4 years of experience as a legal, medical and technical translator / interpreter and 2 years of formal training in translation and interpretation at the Monterey Institute of International Studies (MIIS). My background includes 16 years of living in Korea and 10 years in the US. My experience, training and my dual country residencies have taught me how to be a cultural bridge between Korean and English speaking people. I am a native English speaker. I was trained in the U.S. Army to read, write, and speak Korean at the Defense Language Institute (DLI) in Monterey, California. I graduated in 2008 with a Defense Language Proficiency Test (DLPT)score of 2+/2+/1+ (Listening, Reading, Speaking). I have continued to maintain and improve my skills. My most current DLPT score is a 3/2+

Specializing in Korean to English translation projects, especially for legal or financial type documents. I am native fluent in both English and Korean (read, write & speak). I have practiced business law, civil litigation and bankruptcy law for 17 years (US) and I am now retired from active practice of law. I have had to proof-read and correct many Korean documents that were translated into English when I had cases where Korean parties/documents were involved during my law practice. I hold a BA in Economics, MBA and Juris Doctor from University of Maryland. I have been working as a full time Korean to English translator for the past 3 years for law firms (on-site work) but I am looking to do more freelance work at home. I can translate/proof-read all types of Korean documents, especially legal, business and financial type of documents.
