I was raised by my mother who speaks Ilocano and father who is Visayan. Tagalog and Ilocano dialect/language has been part of our daily conversation at home and at school. I remember when me and my siblings have not started attending grade school yet, my parents have trained us to converse in English in our very young age.
My interest in language aroused more when I started attending school. I love reading textbooks. This has helped me be very particular with proper words and how we use them.
Though English is my native language, I have been fluent in Russian all my life. I was raised and educated in the U.S., completed my studies in Moscow, where I worked for seven years, and after returning to New York, divide my time between NY and Moscow. I have been a professional translator/interpreter for 20 years, engaged in publising, advertising, East European studies, and the hotel/resort industry.
