I have worked as a Portuguese translator and publications editor for multilateral organizations (IDB, World Bank, IMF, OAS), in the Washington D.C. area, for more than 20 years. I am very familiar with the topics and language used by these organizations in the fields of economics, trade, environment, business, health and education among others.

I have more than 20 years' experience as a translator and interpreter of Brazilian Portuguese. A highly skilled editor, writer and social science researcher, I have worked in Brazil, the United States and other countries for nonprofit organizations. My experience includes interviewing and being interviewed in Portuguese, translating and editing books in Portuguese, writing articles in Portuguese for a Brazilian publication, and working as a contract interpreter and lecturer in Brazil and the United States for the U.S. State Department. In all my work I am quick but meticulous, efficient and very reliable, accustomed to working independently or with a team, managing projects, juggling multiple tasks and meeting deadlines.

I have a PhD in Ecology, Evolution, and Systematics from the University of Missouri in St. Louis. I always had a passion for languages, and I decided to leave academia to become a full-time translator. I have translated numerous scientific articles from Portuguese to English. I have also published scientific papers of my own, so I understand the process of scientific publication from firsthand experience. I have a knack for hunting down the appropriate translation of even the most specialized terms. I do not translate word-for-word, but rather write a text that flows well in the target language, while maintaining the meaning of the source. I specialize in scientific texts, but I can translate any general-purpose text.

I am a Spanish to English translator and interpreter. As a registered Spanish court interpreter, I am often in courts and am available for depositions, interviews, and other legal matters. I also interpret in conferences, government agencies, schools, and in other settings. In addition, I hold a master's degree in Translation & Interpretation.
