I am a Cuban American that has lived 8+ years in Chile. I worked as a missionary but did a lot of translating and interpreting with American pastors and groups that visited. I also worked teaching English as a second language, translated educational material, and entire books and training materials.

I have worked in the Hospitality industry for 17 years which enabled me to utilize different languages in every occasions. As far as my language capacity, I have been speaking fluently English since High School, I was tutoring in English even when I was 14. I have graduated from Istanbul University from La Linguistique de la Langue Francaise Division in 1998 and Marmara University Hotel Management in 1992 , I also have a Business and Marketing degree from Cornell. I have studied Spanish here in Miami Dade College as it is kind of crucial in South Florida.

I worked as a worker's compensation adjuster for over 20 years. I also interpreted for other adjusters. I am interested in doing interpretations for medical appointments and mediations.

I have resided in the respective countries of my working languages and therefore have an extensive background in the cultures of these languages. This is key when communicating in the target language.

My name is Mariana and I am a court-certified Spanish Interpreter. I also hold a degree in English translation. I have been a translator since 2012. I have worked in several fields, but since 2017 I have been focusing on legal translation and interpreting.

I am proficient in several different languages, including Spanish, Portuguese, Yiddish, Italian, French, and German. Since 2009, I have received a substantial amount of educational and professional training and experience as both a medical and a court interpreter. Spanish is my main working language, however I also have experience interpreting to and from Brazilian Portuguese. At the end of 2015, I became a court certified interpreter and immediately began working as a Spanish staff interpreter at a courthouse. Prior to this, I worked as a Spanish and Portuguese Medical Interpreter at multiple healthcare facilities. In addition to becoming a Spanish Certified Medical Interpreter (CMI) and a Certified Healthcare Interpreter (CHI) in 2011, I also obtained Certificates of Competency in Healthcare Interpreting (Italian, French) and Language Interpreting (Portuguese).

To complement what I consider is an ideal match to my Interpreter experience, which goes over 2000 hours, I have dedicated myself to explore and develop personal knowledge by completing the Advanced Medical Training, which was focused not only on the medical terminology, but also reinforce the Interpreter Foundations, such as the role of conduit, clarifier and cultural broker, as well as managing ways to effectively interpret such terminology for both (or more) parties, by following the Board Interpreting Guidelines and Procedures.This was achieved by practicing memory exercises, analyzing the message exercises, abstraction and adaptation exercises, note taking exercises, and eventually comprehensive interpreting exercises, provided by qualified Senior Language Specialists and Tutors . Furthermore, I have also gained many hours in many other interpretation fields, such as Customer Service, Auto Insurance, Jail Jargon, Social Security, Banking and Finance, which has led me to have a more general experience alongside the medical field. In this sense, I bring to the table a balanced set of skills which are valuable and required within the Interpretation industry. Among these skills, but not limited to, are: Bilingual speaking ability (English C1/Spanish Native), customer service experience, attention to detail, and proficiency in Interpreting software on the computer or over the phone.
