Having moved to LA from Seoul Korea in 2009, I am currently in the process of getting certified as a CA court interpreter (I passed written portion of the test and plan on taking oral exam as soon as the exam becomes available) and will take State Department interpreter test as well as ATA certification test in April.

This church immigrated to America almost 150 years ago from the Holy Land and most of our parishioners come from the Middle East and the Arab World .There is a need to use both languages.
My strengths include being able to work well with a variety of personalities, to converse with anyone, and to enter easily into new situations with a creative and resourceful attitude. In addition, I am very detail oriented, persistent, and punctual and a team player. Unlike many interpreters, I am completely bilingual. I did not know the difference between English and Spanish until I was about 5; I just knew that if I wanted to watch TV I had to ask my mother in with one set of words and everyone else in a different manner. I was able to formally develop both languages by attending high school in Buenos Aires and college at UCSD, where I currently study bioengineering. In Argentina, I attended the most prestigious high school in the country, and was instructed not only in advanced Spanish syntax, grammar and literature but also in Latin and French, which has allowed me a quite operative understanding of most Latin based languages, including Italian, Portuguese and French, all of which I can read and translate to some degree. The ability to transfer from a Spanish based high school to an English run university is a display of my multilingual talent, as I was immediately able to understand and work with advanced engineering content. Additionally, I have received perfect scores in numerous English classes and tests, including college writing classes (both purely linguistic and engineering focused) and the ACT test. Finally, I wish to add that I have worked doing medical interpreting for a Joint Commission International accreditation consultant in Argentina, for whom I performed a wide range of services, from presentation and website design to technical translation, both written and verbal.
